About Sydney Scaturo

I'm Sydney Scaturo, a contemporary painter using expressive color and layered composition to create dreamlike scenes that encourage viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the natural world.

A practice shaped by place, family, and memory.

I grew up in Northern California, spent years painting in Austin, Texas, and now live and work in Door County, Wisconsin. Each place has left its mark on the way I see the world—from dramatic coastlines and rolling hills to wide-open skies and quiet forests.

Recently becoming a mother has brought a new perspective to both my life and my work. Seeing the world through my son's eyes has renewed my sense of wonder, curiosity, and appreciation for the beauty found in everyday moments.

Those feelings often find their way into my paintings, where familiar landscapes become dreamlike places shaped by memory and imagination.

When I'm not in the studio, you'll usually find me tending the garden, knitting, reading, or cooking for my family. I believe creativity extends beyond the canvas, and many of my favorite ideas begin during slow walks outdoors, quiet moments at home, and often in my dreams.
